Statement of Success This project will be successful when we have completed the three deliverables delegated to our team. The first deliverable of this project is to develop a public involvement plan. We will need to conduct significant research in order to gain a deep understanding of both the natural and human context of the park’s development. In looking at various data, we will be able to understand what is possible for the park given its topography and the existing facilities in the surrounding area. Our research and understanding of the park, as well as the opportunities and constraints, will help get the master plan for public involvement started. In placing such great emphasis on community involvement, an overall sense of ownership will contribute a welcoming feeling to the area. Not to mention, excitement over such a community asset. The second deliverable is to identify key stakeholders. This will require some field-work in the neighborhood. We need to identify the “leaders” of the communities, with an emphasis on the hard-to-reach communities. Immediate neighbors as well as the surrounding community will be considered. As stated by Breckel, we are to give everyone who cares and who should care an opportunity to chime in. Before we can start planning any big meetings or workshops, it is absolutely necessary to cover ground and take small steps of outreach. The small step communication will be more about asking questions such as what they would like to see as opposed to what should be- This is confusing, who ever wrote it (Kara?) would you mind rephrasing because I don’t know what idea you are trying to get across. It is imperative to remind those involved that we may not be at the point in development to answer some questions, but to invite them to join neighborhood association to stay connected and to be involved in all phases with a voice. The third deliverable is to identify strategies for connecting with these key stakeholders. Through targeted research we will be able to reach out to key stakeholders, or those directly affected by the project- this sounds like a repeat of the first sentence and I would delete it, but if you guys think it works then we can leave it in. We will need to creatively examine various methods of outreach to be sure that the voices of the Wilkes Neighborhood are not only heard, but encouraged to speak. Additionally, we must examine how to reach those community members who are not typically involved with community affairs. This can include those with limited English proficiency, lower education, or just an overall feeling of apathy or exclusion. We intend to create web-based interaction methods, brochures/flyers in the various languages that reflect the demographics to inform stakeholders of planned events and opportunities to get involved, survey/questionnaires to analyze the desires and opinions of the community, physical outreach such as door to door surveying to meet the community, and finally a web-based calendar of events for the neighborhood. In completing such outreach, we expect to find a growing enthusiasm among community participants. KS +LL Successful completion of this project will see community pride surge, with groups showing interest in their community assets, and caring for their natural park. Bringing in diverse groups that interact with fellow stakeholders, and beginning to take on the task of participation in the process for future changes, implementations, and events that build community. LL <-ADD THIS AS A CONCLUSION TO SECTION 2? (Yes, but he said that he is a stickler about the paragraph starting with "Successful completion of this project") |

Statement of Success
This project will be successful when we have completed the three deliverables delegated to our team. The first deliverable of this project is to develop a public involvement plan. In looking at various data, we will be able to understand what is possible for the park given its topography and the existing facilities in the surrounding area. Our research of the park will allow for a better understanding of the opportunities and constraints. In order to get the master plan for public involvement started, we will need such knowledge as a precursor to our community outreach. The primary goal of creating a public involvement plan is to emphasize community involvement to promote an overall sense of ownership that will contribute a welcoming feeling to the area. Not to mention, excitement over such a community asset.
The second deliverable is to identify key stakeholders. We need to identify the “leaders” of the communities, with an emphasis on the hard-to-reach communities. Immediate neighbors as well as the surrounding community must be considered. As stated by Breckel, we are to give everyone who cares and who should care an opportunity to chime in.

Successful completion of this project will see Wilkes Creek neighborhood’s pride surge, as well as identifying, and showing interest in their community assets. Wilkes Creek will be a community that is ready to develop their natural park in a participatory fashion, by bringing together diverse groups who interact with fellow stakeholders. Wilkes Creek community members will be well on their way to mastering the processes needed for future challenges, implementation, and decisions while continuing to build their community.
